Most businesses chase attention. The ones that win build something people come back to. The difference is rarely budget. It is clarity, consistency, and a willingness to do the unglamorous work long after the launch buzz fades.
When we start with a new client, the first question is never which channel to post on this month. It is who you are trying to reach, and what they should believe about you by the time they leave. Everything else follows from that. Platforms change, formats change, the algorithm changes. The answer to that question is what holds steady.
Start with the promise, not the platform
A platform is a delivery method. Your promise is the product. If you cannot say in one sentence what you do better than the alternative, no amount of reach will fix it. We spend the early weeks of every engagement narrowing that sentence until it is sharp enough to repeat without thinking.
Once the promise is clear, the work gets easier. You stop guessing what to make. You make the things that prove the promise, again and again, in whatever format the moment calls for.
- A point of view that does not move with the feed.
- A visual system that is recognisable at a glance.
- A reason for the right people to come back.
Consistency beats intensity
A single viral moment is worth less than a year of showing up well. We have watched accounts spike and disappear, and we have watched quieter brands compound. The compounding ones rarely did anything flashy. They did the same good thing on a schedule until it became a habit for their audience.
Attention is rented. Trust is owned. Spend your effort on the thing you get to keep.
That is the whole strategy, really. Decide what you want to be known for. Build the system that proves it. Then keep proving it after everyone else has moved on to the next trend.
Where to start this week
Write your one sentence. Show it to three people who fit your audience and ask them to say it back to you. If they cannot, it is not ready. When they can, you have the foundation that every post, page and campaign should ladder up to.
